Hyderabad has a lot of SEO companies. Most are fine. Some are good. Some will waste your money. This article is about sorting through them.

If you're an Indian business owner—ecommerce, services, local, online—and you want more customers from Google search, you need to know what you're buying, what it costs, and how to spot the ones who are just taking your money.

What SEO services actually are

SEO means making your website rank higher on Google for searches that your customers do. That's it.

An SEO agency does things like:

  • Check what words your customers search for.
  • Fix your website's code, speed, and structure.
  • Write or rewrite pages to match what Google wants.
  • Find other websites to link to yours.
  • Track your rankings and traffic month to month.

It takes time. Real SEO takes 3–6 months before you see real results. If someone promises results in 2 weeks, they're lying.

Types of SEO agencies in Hyderabad

Freelancers. One person, working from home or a small office. They charge ₹15,000–₹40,000 per month. They're fast to hire, slow to scale, hit-or-miss on quality. Good if your site is small and your needs are simple.

Small agencies (2–5 people). A tiny team, often in a shared office space. They charge ₹30,000–₹80,000 per month. They can handle one client well but don't always have backup if someone leaves. Better quality control than freelancers.

Mid-size agencies (6–20 people). Real office, real team structure, real processes. They charge ₹60,000–₹2,00,000 per month. They can handle multiple clients, have specialists, and give consistent work. Most reliable for businesses that can't afford to fail.

Large agencies (20+ people). Full-service digital marketing: SEO, ads, content, social, design. They charge ₹1,50,000–₹5,00,000+ per month. They have all the skills, but they may not give you much personal attention. Often better for bigger budgets or companies that want everything under one roof.

Cost breakdown: What you'll pay

SEO pricing in Hyderabad breaks into three models:

Monthly retainer. Most common. You pay a fixed amount every month for ongoing work. ₹15,000–₹5,00,000+ depending on the agency and your industry.

If you own a local service business (plumbing, coaching, dental), ₹25,000–₹60,000 per month is typical. If you run an ecommerce site with 1,000+ products or a SaaS company, ₹1,00,000–₹3,00,000 per month is more realistic.

Project-based. You pay once for a specific piece of work: site audit, keyword research, content writing, link building. Usually ₹50,000–₹5,00,000 depending on scope. Less common in Hyderabad but it exists.

Performance-based. Rare and risky. You pay based on results—rankings, traffic, or conversions. Sounds good until the agency realizes they can't control Google, and things go sideways. Most reputable agencies won't take this model.

Within a retainer, you're paying for:

  • Keyword research: Finding search terms your customers use. Included in most retainers.
  • On-page SEO: Fixing your website code, content, titles, descriptions. ₹5,000–₹20,000 per month for ongoing work.
  • Content creation: Writing new pages, blog posts. Can be ₹10,000–₹50,000+ per month depending on quantity and quality.
  • Link building: Getting other sites to link to you. ₹10,000–₹30,000 per month, highly variable quality.
  • Reporting: Monthly dashboards showing your rankings, traffic, leads. Usually included but varies.

Red flags to watch for

They promise #1 rankings in 30 days. Not possible. Google doesn't work that way. A company that says this is either inexperienced or dishonest.

They won't explain what they do. Good agencies explain their strategy in plain terms. If they use buzzwords and refuse to be specific, walk away.

They guarantee rankings. Nobody can guarantee rankings. Google changes its algorithm constantly. Any agency that guarantees a position is selling false hope.

No reporting or analytics. If they don't give you a monthly report showing your traffic, rankings, and leads, how do you know if it's working? Red flag.

They don't ask about your business. Before an SEO agency quotes you, they should ask: Who are your customers? What do they search for? What are your competitors doing? If they skip this, they're quoting blind.

Very cheap pricing. ₹5,000–₹10,000 per month for SEO is a sign they're either new, desperate, or they're doing minimal work. You get what you pay for.

They push you into long contracts. A good agency stands by their work. If they demand 12 months upfront, that's pressure, not confidence. Month-to-month or 3-month terms are better.

How to actually choose one

Step 1: Know your budget. Decide how much you can spend per month. If you're a local service business with 2–3 employees, ₹30,000–₹50,000 is reasonable. If you're an ecommerce store doing ₹50+ lakhs revenue per year, ₹1,00,000–₹2,00,000 is worth it.

Step 2: Check their track record. Ask for case studies. Not just "We increased traffic." Real numbers: "Client X went from 50 keywords ranked to 200 in 6 months. Traffic went from 500 to 3,000 visits per month." Ask for references you can call.

Step 3: Audit your competition. Use free tools like Ubersuggest, Semrush (free version), or Ahrefs to see who ranks for your industry keywords in Hyderabad. The top 3–5 results show you what works. That's your benchmark.

Step 4: Talk to at least three agencies. Get three proposals. Compare what they're offering, not just the price. One agency might include content writing; another might not. One might report weekly; another monthly.

Step 5: Start with a trial. Don't sign a 6-month contract on day one. Ask if they'll work with you for 2–3 months to prove themselves. Most good agencies will.

Questions to ask before hiring

How do you choose keywords? A good answer: "We research search volume, competition, and intent. We focus on keywords where your business can realistically rank." A bad answer: "We target high-volume keywords." High volume means high competition; you need realistic targets.

How do you build links? Listen for: guest posts on relevant sites, directories, resource pages, PR. Bad signs: "We buy links" or "We submit to 1,000 directories." Bought links get you penalized.

What will my website look like after 6 months? A good agency paints a realistic picture: "We'll target 30–50 keywords in your space. You might rank for 10–15 of them. That could bring you 200–500 extra visitors per month, depending on conversion rate." Vague answers are a warning.

How do you measure success? They should mention: rankings, organic traffic, leads or sales, cost per lead. If they only talk about rankings, they're missing the point.

What's your onboarding process? Good agencies spend time understanding your business, your audience, your competitors, and your goals before they touch your website. This takes 1–2 weeks. If they start work immediately, that's a bad sign.

Can I leave if I'm not happy? The answer should be yes, with reasonable notice (30 days). Month-to-month contracts with 30-day exit clauses are normal in Hyderabad.

Final note

SEO is real and it works. But it's a long game. You need an agency that understands your business, explains their work clearly, and shows you results month after month. Don't pick based on price alone. Don't pick based on who promises the fastest results. Pick based on who seems honest, competent, and aligned with your goals.

If you're in Hyderabad and you're looking for an agency, talk to at least three. Ask the hard questions. Check their references. See how they handle your objections. The right fit is out there.
